Why Engineers Cross-Reference Off a Western Brand

Designers at North American and European OEMs have, for a decade or more, specified oscillators from Microchip (formerly SiTime's quartz line and the acquired Oscilloquartz), Rakon, IQD Frequency Products, FeiZhou and Frequency Electronics. Today two pressures push engineering teams to evaluate a second source: long lead times from the incumbents (often 16–26 weeks) and cost reduction programs after component qualification. KCCS has built its quartz and disciplined oscillator families around the packages and performance levels these western parts occupy, so a second source is usually a drop-in — not a redesign.

The Cross-Reference Process

  1. Send us the incumbent part number and your target spec. A PDF datasheet or even the part number plus frequency is enough.
  2. We map the pin-out, supply voltage, output type (sine/CMOS) and temperature range.
  3. We propose a KCCS equivalent and send a comparison report showing where we match, where we exceed, and where the customer should re-test.
  4. Free evaluation samples ship on standard lead time (6–10 weeks) so your engineering team can run bench validation before committing to a second source.
  5. First article and lot qualification follow the same flow as any production component; documentation supports IATF/ISO and customer audits.

What We Will Not Do
