Microsecond-disciplined references for exchange grandmasters, PMU substations and 5G grid backhaul — engineered to survive GNSS jamming and meet MiFID II / SEC timestamp rules.
In co-located trading rooms and exchange matching engines, every packet timestamp is a regulatory and economic record. Regulators (SEC Rule 15c3-5, MiFID II clock-migration rules) require synchronized timestamps within 100 microseconds of UTC for trades, and within a millisecond for order events. The cheapest way to hit this on every server rack is a GPSDO / PTP grandmaster clock in the cage, and that grandmaster lives or dies by the stability of its internal oven oscillator.
Trading-floor integrators have historically chosen Microchip / Spectracom / Meinberg grandmasters with OCXO or rubidium internal references. KCCS supplies the OCXO and disciplined oscillator modules that go into these grandmasters and into in-house timing appliances — including the ultra-low ADEV KOS series for the master clock and the KDO series for satellite-disciplined remote nodes.
Substation merging units, phasor measurement units (PMUs), and 5G wireless nodes on power-tower backhaul all need precise time for synchrophasors, fault location and wide-area control. A GPSDO with 1 μs/24h holdover survives GNSS jamming (a real risk at substations) without losing synchrophasor alignment. For distribution automation and FTTR-powered grid sensors, lower-cost TCXO and micro-disciplined modules carry the timing budget.
